Without the key I would have said Abies grandis, except the needles are too short for that species (so I would have said that's because it's a small plant). In fact, Abies grandis needles narrow to a point where they join the stem, so I would have been wrong on that count.

My teacher taught us this mnemonic: Firs are flat and friendly and get and A for Abies.

(Fir needles tend spread out flat from the stem, and they are pleasant to touch. )chuck b.https://www.blogger.com/profile/00882763861745236443noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14345890.post-32343615875724989822006-12-11T08:36:00.000-08:002006-12-11T08:36:00.000-08:00My old boyfriend's tree leaned a bit, too! ;)My old boyfriend's tree leaned a bit, too! ;)lisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18133943147518051559noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14345890.post-25552595832833097312006-12-10T22:16:00.000-08:002006-12-10T22:16:00.000-08:00I am going to have to relearn all my temperate cli...I am going to have to relearn all my temperate climate trees. Maybe you can just prop it a little more to the left to compensate for the, ahem, drooping branch.christin m p in massachusettshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17286830884358791544noreply@blogger.com
