An interesting perspective:
I will be blunt: We need assembly line medicine, medicine that is routinized, marked and measured. As I have argued before I would much prefer to be diagnosed by a computerized expert system than by a physician.

Last time I went to the dentist, he shot me up with novocaine, then said he couldn't find the cavity. As I recall, he did not apologize.

I've been fortunate never to have had any serious or unusual medical (or dental) issues. So for all the obvious reasons, it's powerfully counterintuitive for me to consider having a computer system make a medical diagnosis for me. But stepping back and looking at it from a cold perspective, the pros do seem to outweigh the cons.

I bet there's a happy medium somewhere. Whether we can afford it is another question.
