My friend Neil lives downtown in the theater district, between old-fashioned Nob Hill and the seedy Tenderloin.
Dirty streets and high rises are the rule here. So secret gardens must be the exception.
We went to visit the Botanical Garden. We were too busy talking to take very many pictures. Here are a few.
Garrya elliptica (Garryaceae)
Phylica pubescens (Rhamnaceae)
Dombeya sp. (Sterculiaceae)
A longer visit to the Botanical Garden last December here.

Botanical garden in the T-loin? I lived a block from le Colonial (formerly Trader Vic's) for 6 years, and I have no idea that there's a secret garden near there... I guess that's why they call it secret right? LOL
Amazing little find... how sweet!
No, no, no--the "secret garden" is just a little patch of green tucked between highrise buildings. The Botanical Garden is in GG Park.
LOL!!!
Wouldn't it be lverly if it were true?
